Autograph Authentication - proof of authenticity

The term "guarantee real and authentic" can be very misleading autograph market today. This phrase and others like him are thrown around the autograph market as a frisbee in the park. What this mean? Perhaps we should look at what is really authentication. Webster defines "authenticate" that "to prove the authenticity of. The key word is evidence. The authenticator must be able to verify that an object is authentic. Autographs must be proven true, supposebe true until proven otherwise. As mentioned in previous articles, the item must be considered untrue and the authenticator must find reasons why it is authentic.

Authentication is a scientific opinion on the basis of careful study, research and intuitive knowledge gained by experience firsthand. Too many times I saw 'distributors and collectors selling autographs and to ensure authenticity, without knowing the first thing on the voice that support the authenticity.Authentication is not a deductive process. "Well, there is no reason why it should not be good!" Is the battle cry of the ignorant seller, and we hear too often in our industry.

When buying autographs in person, make sure you know who you are dealing. Check if there is a guarantee of authenticity, and confirm that the person making the warranty can save. Determine what is the basis for authentication. The warranty is valid only if the person or companythat supports it. If they are out of business next week, you can be "locked". Know the limits and conditions of the guarantee, if you said. What experience do they have? What type of formal training, have taken? Do not let that lead them to believe that there is no place to learn. This is not true. There are many programs and university courses available. It takes time, money, effort and serious commitment to be informed of autographs. Many people are notwant to make that commitment, but you want to sell autographs.

Belonging to an organization or an autograph in the assessment of certain companies, do not mean someone is qualified in every subject or theme. Some people are implying that being a member of an organization is an expert. This is another mistake. Membership in most organizations, is open to all. In addition, anyone can publish a catalog or an advertisement in a magazine and know nothing about autographs.

If youpurchase of equipment at auction autographs, look beyond the terms and conditions of the catalog. Read all terms and ask questions. What do you find you may be surprised. Many
companies auction does not guarantee the authenticity of every item sold. In many cases, equipment is sold "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. It is a fairly common practice in the industry. You should be aware of the conditions of sale before the wave of your number to the auctioneer. You can be the owner of anot authentic autograph and have no recourse.

There are a number of autographs of qualified resellers, auction houses and collectors providing very professional, but there are many others who lack any ability to
claims on the authenticity, origin, or title. To be a good detective autograph, you must know more than just autographs. You must know the market, buyers, sellers and ethical practices and questionable business sector. Withincrease the popularity of autograph document, you can bet that more people are becoming sellers of autographs. Most of them do not make the commitment to learn. This imposes a heavy burden on the collector. If you have the right questions, you will be able to distinguish between sellers who "know their stuff" and those who do not.
